Cute As A Button

Last weekend was my little sister's baby shower and we were all under great anticipation. I don't think anyone could be more excited than my mom. (It's her very first grandchild.) Sarah (the mom-to be) loves buttons (as do I) and when I came across the cute as a button theme onilne I knew it would be a perfect fit.

We began creating the invitations and sending them out knowing that the turnout would be quite large. (We had about 30.)

Then it was time to start thinking about other details (my favorite part). We went for a slightly less traditional set of aqua hues in lieu of baby blue, as it is Sarah's favorite color. With the help of our good friend Liz (of whom the photos are also complimented to), we were able to get two beautiful treat towers which were filled with chocolate covered strawberries, brigadeiro (brazilian truffles), beijinhos (brazilian coconut sweets), and brazilian candies (that were a childhood favorite of the mom-to-be).

We also did lots of other button details like a cute as a button banner, chocolate button lollipops, button napkin rings, and button sugar cookies as favors.

My mom made a sponge cake with a pineapple and doce de leite filling (our family's favorite) covered in buttercream complete with fondant buttons.

There were games and prizes, lots of laughs and lots of gifts!

We were blessed to share this special day with Sarah.

It was a lovely day for everyone, especially the beautiful mom-to-be.

Life's Beauty

It's becoming more and more apparent as of late that I have a serious inclination toward the aesthetically pleasing. Growing up, I always knew that I liked anything sparkly or shimmery, but lately I seem to be developing a more defined sense of colors, shapes, patterns and intricate details that I cannot fathom having overlooked before, these things I pass by every day that go unnoticed.

The bark on a tree.

The petals on flowers.

Even some chocolate shavings. (Aesthetic and delicious)

Beauty is everywhere, in everything, and everyone and my goal is to make the world more beautiful, one project at a time.

So enjoy the day. Slow down. And see the beauty that you've been missing.

And always remember, "He makes all things beautiful in His time..."
